Webex Calling Sandbox Creation and Preperation
This document is designed to assist in the creation of a Webex sandbox, and the preperation/wiping of it before use. This guide also includes various steps outlined within the general guide here: Using UCentric to provision to Cisco Webex Calling
Webex Calling - Sandboxes
Using a Webex Developer account, you can create a Sanbox here: Build - Developer Sandbox
Once active, you’ll have an administrator username (something like admin@paulm-0xrn.wbx.ai) and password. The ‘domain’ for all your users must match this same demo domain: @paulm-0xrn.wbx.ai
Location/PSTN Creation
Before provisioning any data to the Webex sandbox a Location MUST be setup with PSTN calling enabled in order to allow the provisioning of phone numbers.
Once logged into the Webex admin console click on ‘Locations’ under the ‘Management' pane. You will first need to create a demo location, to do this click ‘Manage Locations’ and then click 'Create Manually’.
Next, fill out all sections of the location form, making especially sure to select the correct language and timezone. Once done, click ‘Create’ in the bottom right-hand corner.
Once the location has been created you will see a confirmation screen advising of some actions to be taken with the new location. Click on ‘Set up Calling’ to configure PSTN.
Next, you will be prompted for the connection type, click ‘Premises-Based PSTN’ and click ‘Next’.
Lastly, you will be asked for the routing choices. Choose ‘None’ and then click ‘Confirm’ followed by ‘Next’
Now click ‘Done (Add Numbers Later)’ which will complete the process.
Preperation of your demo data
Unique MAC addresses
Unique Telephone numbers
Numbers are global across WebEx calling, so use carefully and sparingly as you’ll need to de-allocate them to use elsewhere
Unique email domain name is on each user (e.g. 12345@paulm-0xrn.wbx.ai )
Demo Data Checklist
Before provisioning to Webex Calling, you must ensure that the data is properly prepared and suitable for provisioning. Here is a sample LLD document and simple checklist to follow:
Site Name
Make sure that the ‘Default’ location name is changed to your actual default location - This is equivalent to ‘Region name’ on the other tabs
Email addresses
Ensure that all accounts have a valid email address, and that the domain matches the sandbox account
(e.g. 12345@paulm-0xrn.wbx.ai )
Region Name
Make sure that the ‘Default’ location name is changed to your actual default location
Primary MAC
LINE 1 DDI
Make sure you have ‘Fake’ (but Valid) numbers in the Line1DDI columns
Region Name
Make sure that the ‘Default’ location name is changed to your actual default location
LINE 1 DDI
Make sure you have ‘Fake’ (but Valid) numbers in the Line1DDI columns
Testing your example provisioning
If the provisioning is successful, you will get a provisioning report like the example attached
Check if there are any errors, (some may be expected, e.g. Deliberate errors in LLD to demonstrate how they are handled)
Check users, device, activations, auto-attendants and hunt groups are all shown.
Wiping of a Sandbox
Remove users
Click on the … against each user and select ‘Delete’ - This may be slow, and sometimes a refresh of the page is necessary. This will automatically remove associated devices.
Remove workspaces
Click on the … against each workspace and select ‘Delete’ - This will automatically remove associated devices.
Remove Auto Attendants
Click on the … against each Auto Attendant and select ‘Delete’
Remove Hunt and Pickup Groups
Click on the … against each group and select ‘Delete’ - you may be asked to select the location for Pickup Groups.
Remove Telephone numbers
Click on the … on each number and select “Delete” (the select-all option does not work)
‘Fake’ Numbers / MAC Addresses for sample data
